
Mirpur: Bangladesh’s run chase in the second home ODI against Pakistan was reduced to 32 overs after a two-hour rain interruption at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.
According to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) system, the home team now has to chase down a target of 243 runs in 32 overs.
Following the reduction of overs, the first powerplay was reduced to seven overs.
As per the revised playing conditions, two Pakistan bowlers can now bowl a maximum of seven overs, while three bowlers can bowl a maximum of six balls.
Chasing 275 in the opening 50 overs, the hosts began to unravel as they lost three wickets for 15 runs in five overs.
Bangladesh reached 27/3 in 6.3 overs before a hailstorm stopped the action here, with Liton Das and Dawhit Hridoi unbeaten on 13 and zero respectively.
Earlier, batting first, Pakistan were bowled out for 274 in 47.3 overs thanks to half-centuries from Maz Sadaq and Salman Ali Agha.
Maas scored 75 off 46 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes while Agha scored 64 off 62 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Apart from them, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan and right-arm opener Sahibzada Farhan scored 44 and 31 respectively.
Rishad Hossain bagged three wickets for Bangladesh, Miraz bagged two wickets and Nahid Rana, Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed bagged one each.
It is pertinent to mention that the ongoing match is a must-win as Pakistan suffered a crushing eight-wicket defeat in the series opener at the same venue on Wednesday.
