KARACHI: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced the rescheduling of its men’s team’s home white-ball series against New Zealand.

In the first international after the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 snub, Bangladesh are scheduled to host New Zealand in a three-match ODI series followed by several T20Is.

The Tigers’ home campaign will begin with the ODI series, with the first two matches to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on April 17 and 20, while the third match will be played in Chattogram on April 23.

All three matches were supposed to be day-night affairs, but the BCB pushed back their scheduled start times by three hours.

As a result, the 50-over games will now start at 11 am local time, with the goal of ending at sunset at 6:30 pm, with the cricket board expecting to save at least four hours of electricity.

Also, the start time of Bangladesh’s opening two T20Is of the three-match series against New Zealand, scheduled to be played in Chattogram on April 27 and 29, has also been pushed back by four hours, with the first ball now scheduled to be bowled at 2 pm local time.

Meanwhile, the third T20 scheduled to be played in Dhaka’s Mirpur on May 2 was already scheduled to start at 2 pm.

“The board has decided to reschedule the match timings of the upcoming Bangladesh vs New Zealand ODI and T20I series in support of the Bangladesh government’s energy conservation initiative,” BCB said in a statement.

“The revised timing, which will be announced in due course, is aimed at making maximum use of daylight hours in day-night games,” it added.

For the uninitiated, BCB’s decision to support the government’s energy conservation initiative will also apply to the women’s home T20I series against Sri Lanka in Sylhet on April 28 and 30 and May 2 respectively.

The short-form matches, which originally started at 6pm local time, will now start at 1:30pm.
