Pallekale: Adam Zamba’s four wickets followed by Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten half-century helped Australia to a commanding nine-wicket victory over Oman in their final group-stage match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Chasing a modest 105, the Australian team reached an easy target as they hit the winning runs with 62 balls to spare for the loss of one wicket.

Their captain, Marsh, paved the way for the 2021 champions with an unbeaten half-century of 64 off 33 balls, accompanied by seven fours and four sixes.

Marsh was ably supported by opening partner Travis Head with a 19-ball 32 as the duo put on 93 in 8 overs before left-hander Shakeel Ahmed was caught off the bowling.

Following Head’s dismissal, Josh Inglis made an unbeaten six-ball 12 to ensure a dominant result.

Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh’s decision to field first paid off as his bowling unit bowled out Oman for just 104 in 16.2 overs.

Oman got off to a shaky start to their innings as they managed just 39 for the loss of three wickets in 5 overs.

Following an early stutter, middle-order batsman Wasim Ali came out to bat at No. 5 and cautiously took control of Oman’s batting journey.

The left-handed batsman oversaw Oman’s innings until the 16th over when he fell to Glenn Maxwell after scoring 32 off 33 balls with 4 fours.

Apart from him, only skipper Jatinder Singh (17), Hammad Mirza (16) and Karan Sonawal (12) managed to score double figures against a disciplined Australia bowling attack led by Jamba, who returned economical figures of 4/21 in his 3.2 overs.

Maxwell and Xavier Bartlett bagged two wickets each, while Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Ellis claimed a scalp each for Zamba’s efforts.

It is pertinent to mention that both Australia and Oman are already out of the Super Eight tournament following equally disappointing campaigns.

The 2021 champions are fourth in the Group B standings with two points from three matches, suffering defeats at the hands of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, while Oman are bottom after losing all three of their opening group-stage matches.
