KABUL: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed Sri Lanka as hosts for a full white-ball tour featuring three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is) from March 13 to 25 in the United Arab Emirates.

The series kicks off with the T20 match on March 13 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The second and third T20Is will be played at the same venue on March 15 and 17.

After the conclusion of the T20 matches, they will travel to Dubai for the ODI series. The three 50-over matches will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 20, 22 and 25.

The tour marked the first time Afghanistan hosted Sri Lanka for a bilateral series, a milestone welcomed by both cricket boards.

Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Naseeb Khan expressed his excitement for the upcoming matches.

“We are delighted to host Sri Lanka for the first time in our history. This event reflects the strength of our collaboration with the Sri Lankan Cricket Board and we are committed to further strengthen our relationship to deliver a high-quality cricketing experience in the future. Sri Lanka has been playing excellent cricket recently and we expect the match between two quality teams to be a white-ball series,” said Naseeb.

Khan also emphasized the strategic importance of the tour for his team’s development.

“Additionally, this series is fundamental to our work as we begin to further build our team and improve key areas that require improvement. Our primary goal is to prepare the team for major ICC and ACC events and the many bilateral engagements scheduled over the next two years.” He added.

Sri Lanka Cricket’s Chief Executive Officer Ashley De Silva echoed these sentiments and highlighted the importance of the tour.

“Bilateral cricket is an important part of international cricket and we are very happy to be a part of this historic tour as it is the first time Sri Lanka will host a bilateral series in Afghanistan. I am sure this tour will help us plan and prepare for our future international engagements”.

Both the teams will go into the series immediately after the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
