LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators off-spinner Abrar Ahmed has reiterated his commitment to improve his bowling.

while speaking Jio News At the LCCA ground, Abrar shared insights on his bowling strategy and the importance of building pressure through partnerships.

The mystery spinner emphasized coordination with fellow bowler Usman Tariq, highlighting how proper execution of plans can unsettle the opposition and shift the momentum in his team’s favour.

“My aim is to stick to our plans and bowl well with Usman Tariq,” Abrar said. “If we can deliver eight overs in this manner, it creates significant difficulties for the batsmen.”

And by extension, he sheds light on his mindset while bowling, underscoring his focus on limiting scoring opportunities, putting batters in uncomfortable situations, and controlling offensive options to maximize chances of improvement.

“If a batsman has his bat on his shoulder, I focus on scoring runs and taking wickets and try to prevent him from hitting shots,” he added.

Abrar voiced strong confidence in Quetta Gladiators’ overall balance and readiness for the current season, stressing that the team has depth in all departments and is well prepared to compete at the highest level.

“Quetta Gladiators have a strong team again. Our journey ahead will be positive. Our spin attack, fast bowling and batting are all in good shape; it is a complete unit. We are confident of reaching the final this time and winning.”

He also highlighted the evolving dynamics of the league, saying the addition of new owners has made the competition more competitive, while also providing opportunities for emerging talent to shine.

“The arrival of new teams has intensified the competition and some of the best players have emerged. The new owners will click soon and perform well like other teams,” he noted.

The 27-year-old offered his insights into the tournament setting, explaining how playing on limited pitches can affect bowlers’ performance.

When asked about the matches being restricted to just two grounds, Abrar offered a bowler’s view.

“When the pitches are used more often, the bowlers will get more help. Since it has been decided to host the matches at two venues, I believe the planning has been done accordingly. The pitches will definitely be well prepared, but as the matches progress, I think the spinners will be at an advantage.”

He also reflected on his personal style, especially with regard to on-field celebrations.

“I don’t have a new style of celebration; I still like an old-school celebration.”

Abrar concluded by focusing on personal development and his future in international cricket, stressing the importance of balancing bowling and batting.

“My approach is to improve my batting significantly first. Although batting is important, I am currently devoting ten minutes to it. I am preparing for batting with ODI and Test cricket in mind. At this stage, I feel ten minutes of batting practice is enough for me,” he concluded.
