BRISBANE: Sydney Thunder captain David Warner compared Pakistan’s emerging fast bowler Zaman Khan’s bowling to that of a four-year-old boy during their Big Bash League (PBL) match against Brisbane Heat at the Brisbane Cricket Ground on Saturday.

When Warner was caught on the stump-mic by on-field umpire Ben Trelore after the 14th over of Zaman’s Thunder innings, the fast bowler’s slinky delivery, with a very low release point, reminded him of “four-year-old bowling”.

Treloar gave a dismissive reaction to David Warner’s comments, which resulted in the veteran opener stepping aside and ready to make his mark at the non-striker end.

Zaman was bowled out for the Heat as he conceded 32 runs in his three overs and lost wickets.

However, despite Zaman’s struggles with the ball, Usman Khawaja’s half-century in the run chase saw the Heat win by seven wickets over the Thunder.

Zaman joined the two-time champion as an international for compatriot Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury.

Known for his unique slinging action, Zaman previously represented the Thunder in PBL 13, where he played four matches and took eight wickets at an average of 16.38.

Since then, he has played 10 T20Is and One Day Internationals for Pakistan.

The 24-year-old, who is captained by Shaheen Afridi at Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, showed his form in the recent Abu Dhabi T10, taking a hat-trick in the first match of the tournament.

Apart from PSL and PBL, he also has experience in England’s The Hundred representing Manchester Originals.
