Dubai: Pakistan’s top-order batsman Sahibzada Farhan has seen a remarkable rise in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) men’s T20 batting rankings, which were updated on Wednesday.

Farhan, who finished as the highest run-getter in the recently concluded domestic T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, has continued to reap rewards for his consistent performance in this format, surpassing India’s Tilak Verma for fifth place with 752 rating points.

Pakistan’s Saim Ayub continued to dominate the short-form all-rounders rankings as he continued at the summit, while his Indian counterpart Hardik Pandya moved up three places to fourth.

Meanwhile, middle-order batsman South Shakeel entered the top 10 in the men’s Test batting rankings, moving up one place to 10th.

In the long-format bowling rankings, Pakistan spinner Noman Ali slipped one place to fourth, while Australia’s Mitchell Starc moved up three places to third.

There has been plenty of movement in the men’s ODI rankings, especially in batting, as the battle for the top spot between India’s experienced pairing of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has intensified.

Rohit leads the rankings with 781 rating points, eight places ahead of compatriot Kohli and two places behind New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Sadran to take the second spot.

Also, India’s Kuldeep Yadav enjoyed a major breakthrough, moving up three places to join Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan at third in the men’s ODI bowling rankings.

Pakistan’s bowlers also saw significant improvements in their ODI rankings, with Shaheen Shah Afridi climbing two places to 19th, while Haris Rauf moved up one place to 22nd.

Afghanistan’s Asmatullah Omarzai remains at the top of the men’s all-rounder rankings in ODIs.
