KARACHI: Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has registered for the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from March 26 to May 3.

The marquee league made the announcement through its official social media handles by sharing a banner featuring the left-arm fast bowler, who has represented Bangladesh in 15 Tests, 116 ODIs and 126 T20Is so far.

“Batters better swing carefully… Going to fizz in #NewEra. Mustafizur Rahman joins HBL PSL 11!” League post title.

The development comes two days after Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Rahman was abruptly dropped from its squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on the orders of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“Kolkata Knight Riders confirms that BCCI/IPL has instructed the IPL controller to release Mustafizur Rahman from the team ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season,” the franchise said in a statement.

Rahman’s release drew a strong reaction from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which on Sunday decided that its national men’s team will not travel to India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, citing security concerns.

The board has also sought clarification on Rahman’s sudden exit from the IPL, Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Nasrul said in a post shared on his Facebook page on Sunday.

Earlier this week, Bangladesh’s government also announced a ban on cashless league coverage in the country.

A statement by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that “no reason has been given behind Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion” and that the development has “caused grief among the people of Bangladesh”.

The ministry added that the move was taken “in the public interest”. The statement was signed by Assistant Secretary Feroze Khan.
