Harare: The sixth match of the U19 ODI tri-series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe at the Old Hararians Sports Club on Sunday was abandoned due to rain.
Zimbabwe were unable to get their batting going in their second innings as persistent rain disrupted play, leaving the officials with no option but to abandon the match.
Despite the washout, both teams have already booked their places in the final of the tri-series on Tuesday.
Earlier, Zimbabwe put on a brilliant display of bowling to bowl out the green shirts for 208 in 46.3 overs.
After winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan got off to a promising start as the opening pair of Ali Hasan Baloch and Samir Minhas started to score runs at a steady pace.
However, an opening stand of 25 was broken when Sheldon Masvidorera dismissed Hasan Baloch for 3 off six balls.
Minhas and Usman Khan combined to steady the innings after an early breakthrough, with both bats finding boundaries and putting pressure on the Zimbabwean bowlers.
Leeroy Shivavula completed a 63-run partnership with a half-century behind Samir Minhas’ crucial 48 off 58 balls with 7 boundaries. At that stage, Pakistan were 88-2 in 16.1 overs.
In the 19th over, Pakistan’s innings suffered another setback when Mohammad Shayan was dismissed cheaply in seven balls before Siwawla picked up his second wicket.
Wickets continued to tumble, with Usman Khan falling to Michael Blignot for 41 off 53 balls, which included four fours and a six.
Team captain Farhan Yousuf hit 12 off 19 balls as Gian Plignat was bowled out for 123-5 in the first ball of the 27th over.
Hussaifah Ahsan and Ahmed Hussain then put on a 71-run partnership to rescue the team and cross the 150-run mark. However, Husayfa scored 34 off 41 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes, before being dismissed by Masai.
In the same over, Momin Qamar ducked the second ball and Masai was out as Pakistan were 194-7 in 41.3 overs.
Masai left Ahmed Hussain on 37 off 70 balls and then Mohammed Syam on four balls to complete the innings with four crucial wickets.
Niqab Shafiq was dismissed for two off 11 balls as Masvitora picked up his second wicket.
For the hosts, Banashe Masai led the bowling with figures of 4/32 from eight overs, with Sheldon Masvidorera and Leeroy Chiwavula claiming two wickets each.
Michael Plignat and Kian Plignat contributed a wicket each.
