HARARE: Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Friday announced the 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
Star all-rounder Sikandar Raza will lead Chevron in the 20-team tournament, with just one change from the T20I series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan in November last year, with pacer Blessing Musharrafani returning with a back injury.
Musharrafani replaced left-arm fast bowler Newman Niamhouri, who was brought in as a substitute for the tri-series in Pakistan but could not play a single match.
“Continuity was a defining feature of the selection, with fit-again fast bowler Blessing Musharrafani the only one included in the squad that also featured Sri Lanka for the T20I tri-series in Pakistan in November,” ZC said in a statement.
“Musarabani will lead the pace attack alongside left-arm pacer Richard Nagarava, while Bradley Evans and Dinodenda Maposa will provide depth and flexibility to Zimbabwe’s seam-bowling options,” the statement added.
The rest of the Zimbabwe team that failed to qualify for the finals of the tri-series, featuring experienced campaigners like Brendan Taylor and Graeme Creamer, remained the same.
Zimbabwe, drawn in Group B, will open their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against Oman on February 9 at the Sinhala Sports Club Stadium in Colombo before taking on Australia on February 13.
Chevrons will then travel to Kandy where they will face Ireland on February 17, while their last group-stage match is scheduled against Sri Lanka on February 19.
