Young middle-order batsman Samir Minhas has revealed his favorite player from the Pakistan cricket team after emerging as a star performer in the recently concluded ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025.
During an interview with a local news site, Minhas was asked about his favorite Pakistani cricketer, to which he replied, “My favorite player in the Pakistan cricket team is Babar Azam.”
The right-handed batsman made headlines throughout the tournament, single-handedly guiding Pakistan to their first U19 Asia Cup title in the tournament’s 35-year history.
Minhas finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 471 runs from five games at an impressive average of 157.00 and a strike rate of 117.45, including two centuries and a half-century.
His highest score was against Malaysia U19 where he scored an unbeaten 177.
In the high-octane final against arch-rivals India, the 19-year-old showed his mettle again, with an exceptional 113-ball 172, 17 fours and nine sixes.
Batting first, Pakistan amassed 347 for 8 in 50 overs with Ahmed Hussain scoring 56 off 72 balls.
Chasing 348 runs, India were bowled out for 156 runs in 26.2 overs to give Pakistan a huge win by 191 runs.
Young fast bowler Ali Raza took 4 for 42 in 6.2 overs, while Ahmed Hussain and Husayfa Ahsan claimed two wickets each to ensure the boys’ historic win.
