Georgetown: Usama Mir’s four-wicket haul and skipper Michael Bracewell’s impressive 46-run cameo helped Desert Vipers beat Lahore Qalandars by 38 runs in the third match of the Global Super League (GSL) 2026 at Providence 2026.
Elected to bat first, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions posted a mammoth total of 176/4 in 20 overs with a swashbuckling partnership between Pervez Hossain Emman and skipper Bracewell.
The duo took charge of the Kilandres’ batting with the scoreboard reading 93/4 in the 14th over and turned the game around as they added 83 runs off the remaining 35 balls.
Bracewell dominated the crucial stand as he contributed to an unbeaten 46 off 23 balls with 4 fours and three sixes, which eventually earned him the man of the match award.
On the other hand, Emmon returned to top score with an unbeaten 47 off 33 balls with the help of 3 sixes and several fours.
Apart from them, right-arm opener Shayan Jahangir and young middle-order batsman Farhan Yousuf contributed significantly to Qalandars’ total with 28 and 22 respectively.
For the Vipers, Gary Beare took 2 wickets for just 14 runs in his three overs, while Nathan Smith and Vittal Lawes took one wicket each.
Chasing a tough 177-run target, Vipers could only manage 138/9 in the allotted overs, despite a half-century from Andries Gauss, succumbing to a humbling defeat at the start of their GSL 2026 campaign.
As the Vipers put on a 70-run partnership with their opening pair of Ghose and Kyle Meyers, Mir broke the deadlock by dismissing the latter on the fourth ball of the 9th over.
Hitting 30 off 28 balls with the help of three fours and a six, the left-handed opener scored impressive runs for the Vipers.
Mir dismissed Riley Rossow (nine) and Saideja Mukhamalla (nil) in the 13th over to reduce the total to 96/3.
In the next over, Shahab Khan struck the decisive blow by sending back the high-scoring set-batter Ghose, who hit 56 off 38 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Ghose’s dismissal sparked a match-defining slump that saw the Vipers lose the remaining six wickets for 34, leaving them 39 short of the target.
Usama Mir sparked the Qalandars’ bowling with four wickets for just 23 runs in his four overs, followed by Mehran Mumtaz and Shahab with two each, with Mohammad Imran picking up a wicket.
The 38-run victory secured Qalandars’ second in as many matches and cemented their position at the top of the GSL 2026 standings with four points, while Desert Vipers slipped to the bottom.
