Leeds: Twin strikes from Abrar Ahmed, followed by half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Dan Lawrence, helped Sunrisers record their first win in The Hundred 2026 at Headingley on Saturday as they beat Leeds Southern Brave by five runs.
Asked to bat first, Sunrisers Leeds amassed 187-5 from their 100 balls, with Marsh hitting 69 off 34 balls, including four fours and six sixes.
Lawrence remained unbeaten on 51 off 25 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes, while fellow opener Ryan Rickelton hit 37 off 27 balls with 4 fours and a six.
Harry Brook scored just 3 runs off 6 balls and captain Zach Crawley ducked out. Tom Alsop scored 21 runs off 10 balls including a four and 2 sixes.
Off-spinner Adil Rashid was the best bowler for the Southern Braves as he claimed 3/21 off 20 balls. Chris Jordan and Marcus Stoinis took one wicket each.
In reply, the Southern Braves were bowled out for 182-5 despite valuable contributions from Jamie Smith, Ben McKinney, Marcus Stoinis and Tristan Stubbs.
McKinney scored a fluent 44 off 23 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes while opener Smith scored 30 off 18 balls including a four and 3 sixes.
Stonis hit 31 off 16 balls with 4 fours and a six, while Stubbs remained unbeaten on 43 off 20 balls, smashing 3 fours and 3 sixes in a spirited late effort.
Pakistan off-spinner Abrar Ahmed delivered a match-winning spell with figures of 2/33 off his 20 balls. Matthew Potts, Nathan Ellis and Matthew Revis took a wicket each to secure Leeds’ narrow victory.
