RAWALPINDI: Pakistan officially began preparations for the upcoming Test tour of West Indies on Thursday as the national team assembled at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium for a pre-series training camp ahead of their departure for the Caribbean.
Members of the Test team took part in a three-hour training session under the supervision of the coaching staff, where the players went through drills in all three fields of the game.
Red-Ball head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed, batting coach Asad Shafiq and bowling coach Umar Gul supervised the session, while captain Babar Azam and the rest of the team also participated in a comprehensive net session on practice wickets.
As part of their preparations, Pakistan will play in a two-day intra-squad scenario on Friday and Saturday before leaving for the Caribbean.
Notably, Pakistan is scheduled to leave for the West Indies on July 13, where they will first play a four-day practice match starting on July 18.
The visitors will face the West Indies in a two-Test series in Trinidad and Tobago, with the first Test scheduled from July 25 to 29 and the second Test scheduled from August 2 to 6.
With 22 wins from 56 matches against the West Indies and 15 Test matches ending in draws, Pakistan have a narrow advantage in the Test match between the two sides.
Pakistan last toured the West Indies for a Test series in August 2021, when the two-match series ended in a 1-1 draw.
