London: Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has signed for Trent Rocket ahead of the 2026 edition of The Hundred scheduled to be held from July 21 to August 16.
The franchise announced the signing on its official social media channels, confirming that Amir will replace David Paine, who was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
“Fast bowler Mohammad Amir will replace David Paine who continues to recover from an ankle injury. Best wishes to David on his recovery,” the owner wrote.
The left-arm seamer shared a brief message on his social media platform X and expressed his happiness after completing the move.
“Happy to be a part of Trent Rocket,” Aamir posted.
The 33-year-old represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 62 Twenty20 Internationals in his illustrious international career. Last month, he obtained a British passport and became a British citizen.
He has represented both London Spirit and the Oval Invincibles and featured in three seasons of the competition, taking six wickets in eight matches.
Meanwhile, Pakistan spinners Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq were selected by their respective teams during the men’s bid for The Hundred 2026 at Piccadilly Lights.
Birmingham Phoenix snapped up Tariq for £140,000 (approx. PKR 53.2 million), becoming the first Pakistani player to be auctioned after Haris Rauf, Shatab Khan and Saim Ayub went unsold in their respective rounds.
Sunrisers Leeds, an IPL affiliate franchise formerly known as Northern Superchargers, has acquired Abrar Ahmed for £190,000 (approx. PKR 71.2 million).
The 2026 edition of The Hunter will see MI London, formerly known as Oval Invincibles, take on Sunrisers Leeds in the opening game of the tournament at The Oval.
