LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced the 17-member squad for the upcoming Test tours of the West Indies and England, both series scheduled to take place between July and September.
The squad was announced during a press conference held at Gaddafi Stadium in which PCB selection committee members Aqib Javed, Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq were present.
The line-up includes three uncapped players in Ali Usman, Mohammad Awais Jafar and pacer Ubaid Shah, while Babar Azam has replaced Shaun Masood as the red-ball captain.
Despite Pakistan being whitewashed 2-0, Azaan Awais and Abdullah Fazal retained their places during the series against Bangladesh after performing well on their Test debuts.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has regained full fitness, while South Indian Shakeel, who was ruled out of the West Indies tour and included in the England tour, has been included subject to fitness.
All-rounder Amir Jamal has returned to the Test team for the first time since playing against South Africa in 2025, while the pace attack includes Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, young pacer Ubaid Shah and Khurram Shehzad.
The only specialist spinner in Sajid Khan’s squad, Salman Ali Agha can provide a backup spin option. The line-up also lacks Noman Ali, who was dropped from Pakistan’s previous Test tour of Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Pakistan are currently at the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings with one win and three losses. They have four points and an 8.33 points percentage.
The national team will leave for the West Indies on July 13, where they will play a four-day practice match starting on July 18.
The two-match Test series against the West Indies will be played in Trinidad and Tobago. The first Test will be played from July 25 to 29 and the second from August 2 to 6.
Following the Caribbean tour, Pakistan travel to England for a three-match Test series.
The opening Test will be played at Headingley, Leeds from August 19 to 23, while the second Test will be played at Lord’s from August 27 to 31. The series will conclude with the third and final Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham from September 9 to 13.
