
DERBY: Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan produced a match-winning all-round display as Derbyshire edged to a thrilling 4-run win over Derbyshire in a high-scoring Vitality Blast encounter at the County Ground on Wednesday.
Chasing a challenging target of 206, Derbyshire were bowled out for 201 in the allotted 20 overs despite captain Aneurin Donald’s 88 off 37 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes.
Ross Whiteley provided valuable support with a 29-ball 46 including 4 fours and 3 sixes, while Nick Potts scored 32 off 24 balls with 3 fours and a six. However, the rest of the batsmen failed to make a significant contribution.
Shatab claimed 3/42 from his four overs. James Anderson, Tom Aspinwall and Jake Blatherwick took two wickets each to help Lancashire.
Earlier, half-centuries from Ben McDermott and Shadab saw Lancashire all out for 205 in 20 overs.
McDermott top scored with 68 off 40 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes while Shatab scored 58 off 22 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.
Opener Michael Jones and wicketkeeper-batsman Matty Hurst both scored 29 runs, but the rest of the batting line-up struggled.
Captain Keaton Jennings scored nine runs including a six off eight balls, while Liam Livingstone was dismissed with two runs off six balls.
Joseph Moores added five runs off five balls, Jack Blatherwick picked up a run, and Tom Hartley and James Anderson were both dismissed without a run.
For Derbyshire, Akif Javed was the best bowler with impressive figures of 4/36 in four overs. Nick Potts took 3 wickets and Matthew Montgomery and Subian Mukeem took one each.
