Belfast: Ireland whitewashed India 2-0 in the T20I series with a one-run win in the second and final match at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Stormont on Sunday.

Chasing 155, India were restricted to 153-9 in the allotted 20 overs by Ireland led by Jai Moondra.

Tilak Verma top scored for India with 55 runs off 46 balls with 3 fours and a six and Shivam Dubey scored 20 runs off 16 balls including 2 fours.

Axar Patel scored 14 runs off 18 balls while Ishan Kishan and captain Shreyas Iyer scored 12 and 10 runs respectively.

India suffered an early setback as openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson were both ducked in the first ball, while debutant Suryansh Shedge managed just one run.

Harshit Rana fought hard for India with 21 off 10 balls but was dismissed when the visitors needed 8 off the last two balls. Trying to clear the boundary for a six, he was caught on the ropes.

Prince Yadav hit a six off the final ball, but it proved too late as Ireland sealed a famous series win.

Jay Moondra and Matt Hollard took three wickets each to attack Ireland’s bowling, while Matthew Humphries and Harry Dektor took one each.

Batting first, the hosts were restricted to 154-8 in their allotted 20 overs, despite a half-century from Harry Dektor and key contributions from Ben Kallitz.

Ireland suffered an early setback as openers Tim Dektor and Ross Adair were dismissed for 5 and 16 respectively by Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh.

Tector was top scorer to dismiss debutant Prince Yadav with 53 off 47 balls including 5 fours and a six.

Skipper Lorgan Tucker fell to Yadav with 15 off 18 balls including 2 fours, while Kallitz scored 37 off 23 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes before being dismissed by Shivam Dubey.

Dube struck again to tuck Gareth Delaney off the first ball when Arshdeep broke George Doughrell’s contribution of 19 runs. Liam McCarthy was dismissed by Yadav for two runs and Jai Moondra remained unbeaten on one run.

Prince Yadav led India’s bowling with 3/22 in four overs, followed by Shivam Dubey and Arshdeep Singh with two wickets each and Harshit Rana with one.
