HARARE: Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Tuesday announced the 15-man squad for the one-off Test match against Bangladesh from June 28 to July 2 at the Harare Sports Complex.
Zimbabwe, who returned to Test cricket following their impressive win over Afghanistan at the same venue in October last year, will be without experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who has been cleared to continue representing Worcestershire County Cricket Club for the remainder of Vitality Blast 2026, according to the body.
Apart from Raza, four players – Tanunurwa Makoni, Nick Welch, Antum Naqvi, Dinodenda Maposa and Wellington Masakatsa – failed to retain their places in the Zimbabwe team, which recorded an innings win over Bangladesh last year.
As a result, Zimbabwe brought in five players, including 39-year-old legspinner Graeme Creamer, who last appeared in the long format in 2017.
Apart from Creamer, Innocent Kaia, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wesley Mathewere and Newman Nyamhuri are the players who have been recalled to the Zimbabwe squad.
Also, the upcoming match will also mark Richard Nakarava’s Test captaincy debut after replacing left-arm pacer Craig Erwin as Chevron’s long-form captain in December last year.
Zimbabwe and Bangladesh last clashed in the long format in April and May last year. The Chevrons registered their first win in the format in four years by winning their opening match.
