CHENNAI: Prasith Krishna’s 5-wicket haul and Yashaswi Jaiswal’s unbeaten century helped India win the 3rd ODI against Afghanistan by 9 wickets.

A nine-wicket win helped India sweep the ODI series at home, winning the opening two matches by 170 runs and seven wickets respectively.

Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi’s decision to bat first in the last match backfired as the visitors managed to post 218, bowled out in 44.2 overs despite his cautious century.

Coming out to bat with the scoreboard at 26/2, the skipper gave Afghanistan a solo performance with a gutsy century as Krishna was last out as India dominated the ball.

Shahidi top scored for Afghanistan with 102 off 131 balls with 13 fours and a six. He was involved in a 105-run fifth-wicket partnership with all-rounder Asmatullah Omarzai, who made notable contributions with a 56-ball 50, five fours and two sixes.

Krishna conceded just 23 runs in his 8.2 overs to take 5 wickets and was adjudged Man of the Match, while Kurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey bowled with a scalp each.

In reply, left-arm opener Jaiswal’s unbeaten century saw them chase down a simple target of 219 for the loss of 128 balls.

The left-handed opener oversaw India’s chase with an unbeaten 110 off 86 balls with 14 fours and 3 sixes. He shared a 170-run partnership with fellow opener Rohit Sharma, who contributed 79 runs off 69 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi claimed Afghanistan’s lone wicket by dismissing Sharma in the 23rd over.
