KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Nida Dar, after taking an indefinite break from the game last year, has prepared herself for the Test, citing personal reasons to protect her mental health.
Darr, who has represented Pakistan in 112 ODIs and 160 T20Is since her international debut in 2010, made her last appearance for the green shirts in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 against New Zealand.
She was left out of Pakistan’s squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup qualifiers hosted by the country in April last year and announced an indefinite hiatus a week after the event.
“I want to convey that a lot has happened to me in the past, both personally and professionally, and it has affected my mental health,” Darr said. “For this reason I am taking some time off from cricket and focusing on myself.”
Meanwhile, according to the latest development, the 39-year-old shared that after taking time out to focus on herself, she is now back at the forefront of Pakistan women’s cricket and is committed to working hard and contributing to the national team.
“After taking time out to focus on myself and regain my strength, I’m happy to share that I’m back for the Pakistan cricket team,” Nida Dar X, wrote earlier on Twitter.
“Ready to give my best, work hard and contribute whenever the team needs me.
Thank you to everyone who supported me during this journey.
