Dubai: Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed moved a step closer to claiming the number one ODI bowler spot in the ICC rankings after achieving a career-best rating in the latest update.

The young spinner took six wickets in the three-match ODI series against Australia this month, significantly boosting his position in the global rankings.

Abrar climbed from fourth place to second place with 675 rating points. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is at number one and England fast bowler Jofra Archer is at number three.

Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi, who took seven wickets to clinch the series against Australia 2-1, has entered the top 10 bowlers and moved up to ninth place with 604 points.

Haris Raub has moved up one place to 18th in the bowling rankings. Naseem Shah slipped two spots to 47th and Mohammad Wasim Jr. slipped 3 spots to 68th. Spinner Mohammad Nawaz has slipped one place to 76th.

In the ODI batting rankings, Babar Azam retained the sixth position. Salman Ali Agha has fallen 2 places to 16th position with 630 points.

Wicketkeeper and former captain Mohammad Rizwan slipped to 31st and Faqar Zaman to 36th. Saim Ayub dropped one place to 42nd position and Abdullah Shafiq to 99th position.

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell remains at the top of the ODI batting rankings, followed by India’s Virat Kohli at the second position and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Sadran at the third position.
