Mumbai: India have dropped pacer Mohammad Siraj from the T20I squad for the upcoming series against Ireland and England as part of a workload management plan, replacing him with Gujarat Titans’ Prasith Krishna.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the decision was taken after discussions between the medical team and the team management to ensure the pacer’s long-term fitness ahead of a packed international calendar.
“Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Committee and the team management, Siraj has been advised to rest as part of his workload management plan,” the board said in a statement.
“The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of the long international season,” the statement added.
Prasith, who played five T20Is for India and took eight wickets at an economy rate of 11, last played against Australia in Guwahati in November 2023.
He has also been included in India’s ODI squad for the three-match series against Afghanistan starting June 13, while Siraj has also retired from that role.
Both fast bowlers recently featured in the Test win over Afghanistan in New Chandigarh. In the IPL 2026 season, Siraj played 17 matches for Gujarat Titans while Prasith played 12 matches for the finals.
India’s white-ball schedule continues with a T20I series in Ireland, followed by five T20I matches in England, before further ODI assignments in England, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
Before the five-match T20I series in England from July 1 to 11, India will play two T20Is against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and 28.
