LAHORE: Pakistan cricketer Mas Sadaq will be out of action for at least two weeks after undergoing a successful laparoscopic appendectomy at a local hospital in Lahore, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Sunday.

As a result, the left-handed batsman was also ruled out of the final of the 2025-26 National T20 Cup at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Maas, who recently joined the Abbottabad squad as a replacement for Fakhar Zaman, trained with the side on Saturday night but complained of severe abdominal pain on Sunday morning.

He was rushed to hospital where a scan confirmed acute appendicitis. The doctors, in consultation with the PCB medical team, advised an emergency operation, which was successfully carried out.

The PCB said Mass is currently stable and his vital signs are normal and hemodynamically under close observation by the team’s medical staff.

The 21-year-old, who also recently opened for Pakistan in the ODI series against Australia, has been named among the 27 players for the white-ball camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), which begins on June 15.

He will now join the camp after a full recovery and clearance from the PCB medical team.

Meanwhile, the PCB has announced separate red-ball and white-ball training camps at the NCA as part of preparations for the upcoming international and domestic assignments. A total of 49 players will participate in both events.

The red-ball camp will consist of 22 players from June 8 to July 10, while players selected from Pakistan’s recent ODI series against Australia will join from June 15.

The white-ball camp will begin on June 15 and continue till September 18, with 27 players participating.

Both the camps aim to improve the fitness, skills and overall development of the players under national and NCA coaches with the support of PCB medical staff.

Pakistan is scheduled to return to international cricket with a two-match Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25-29 and August 2-6 respectively.
