Dhaka: Bangladesh pace coach Shaun Tait has stepped down ahead of the home white-ball series against Australia, his decision was confirmed on Thursday.

Former Bangladesh fast bowler Talha Zubair is expected to be the interim pace coach for the Australia series.

“Yes, I’m off,” Tait said without giving further details.

The former Australian fast bowler, whose contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) runs until the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup, joined the organization in May 2025 and has made a significant impact during his tenure.

He was widely credited for his role in the rapid development of young pacer Nahid Rana, whose express pace marked him as one of Bangladesh’s most promising pacers.

A BCB source confirmed that Tait had already informed the board of his decision, with family reasons believed to be behind his exit.

Although he was earlier scheduled to join the pre-series training camp, it remains uncertain whether he will be available for duty ahead of the Australia series.
