RAWALPINDI: Australia on Thursday added one to its squad for the three-match ODI series against Pakistan from May 30 to June 4.
Regular skipper Mitchell Marsh has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 series with Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) due to an ankle injury, leaving wicketkeeper Josh Inglis as the captain.
Now, the team has made a significant addition as batting all-rounder Cooper Connolly has been named for the series and is set to join the team in Pakistan, with the opening match in Rawalpindi and the remaining two matches in Lahore.
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed that a decision on his availability for the upcoming Bangladesh white-ball tour will be taken later.
In a further development, Australia are expected to give emerging fast bowler Ollie Peake an international debut as they adjust their squad in Marsh’s absence.
The series marks Pakistan’s return for a 50-over bilateral tour since their last ODI tour of Australia in March–April 2022, after Pakistan won the series 2–1 at home.
Earlier this year, Australia also toured Pakistan for a three-match T20I series in January-February, where the hosts completed a 3-0 clean sweep at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Australia squad for ODI series updated: Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis (c/wk), Matthew Kuhneman, Marnus Labuschagne, Riley Meredith, Ollie Peake, Matthew Renshaw, Tanvir Sangha, Liam Scott, Matt Short, Billy Stanlake and a Cooper Connolly.
