Leeds: All-rounder Hasan Ali registered a second successive win as they beat Yorkshire County Cricket Club by two wickets in the ongoing Vitality Blast at Headingley on Sunday.

Batting first, Derbyshire amassed 194-4 in the stipulated 20 overs thanks to some excellent batting from opener Martin Anderson and key contributions from Matthew Montgomery and Ross Whiteley.

The team lost their first three wickets inside eight overs, with Hasan Ali striking first and claiming the prize wicket of captain Aneurin Donald, who scored 10 runs from five balls, including two fours.

Caleb Jewell was dismissed as Derbyshire’s second batsman as paceman Andrew Tye took his wicket after a 16-ball 20 including 3 fours and a six.

Matthew Revis gave Yorkshire their third breakthrough when Wayne Madsen was dismissed cheaply after taking two runs from four balls, leaving Derbyshire struggling to 63-3 in 7.1 overs.

Anderson and Montgomery played well for their team and scored crucial runs as they put on a 73-run partnership that took the team’s total past 100 runs.

However, that stand was broken when Montgomery hit 35 off 23 balls with 5 fours and was dismissed by Zafar Sohan, while Anderson remained unbeaten on 81 off 56 balls with 7 fours and a six.

Whiteley hit 39 off 17 balls with 4 fours and two sixes to help Derbyshire reach their biggest total.

Hasan Ali, Tye, Revis and Sohan took one wicket each.

Yorkshire suffered an early setback as they were reduced to 65-4 in 7.4 overs, with Akif Javed dismissing Adam Lyth for 31 off 11 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Captain Jonny Bairstow, James Wharton and William Luxton were dismissed cheaply by Jack Morley and Nick Potts for scores of eight, five and five respectively.

Moeen Ali top-scored for Yorkshire with a 35-ball 51 with two fours and five sixes before being dismissed by Pats.

However, late spells from Hasan Ali and Andrew Tye sealed the deal for Yorkshire as they chased down the target with eight wickets and four balls to spare.

Hasan scored 31 off 12 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes while Tye scored 32 off 13 balls including 4 fours and 2 sixes.
