KARACHI: Pakistan men’s cricket team will play a lone Test against England in May next year ahead of Ashes 2027, British media reported on Friday.
According to the report, the only Test match between England and Pakistan is expected to be played at Old Trafford in Manchester and is expected to coincide with the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year.
“Next summer, England’s Test against Pakistan at Old Trafford at the end of May, currently scheduled during the IPL, will begin at Trent Bridge, the northernmost side of the Ashes series,” the statement read.
“Trent Bridge has not hosted an Ashes Test since 2015, a match best remembered for Stuart Broad’s extraordinary 8 to 15,” it added.
Earlier this week, a separate report by another English media outlet suggested that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) plans to play a historic five-match series against Pakistan in the next ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
Meanwhile, England are already scheduled to host a three-match series against Pakistan in the current WTC cycle, which will run from August 19 to September.
The series, which will be Pakistan’s first away series against England since 2020, begins on August 19 at Headingley in Leeds, while the next two matches are scheduled to be played at Lord’s and Edgbaston.
