LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday announced the 16-man squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia to be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from May 30 to June 4.

Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to captain the team, while Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Shatab Khan and Sufyan Mukim have returned to the ODI squad after missing the series against Bangladesh in March.

Ahmed Daniel, Arafat Minhas and Rohail Naseer are back in the ODI squad. Also, after earlier selection, may make international debut during the series without participating in a match.

Muhammad Qazi Ghori and Rohail have been selected as the two wicketkeeper-batsmen after Usman Khan was ruled out due to ill health.

Meanwhile, openers Faqar Zaman and Saim Ayub have not been considered for selection as both players continue their rehabilitation programs under the supervision of the PCB medical team following injuries.

The team will gather in Islamabad tonight before starting training sessions under the coaching staff from May 23.

Australia’s men’s team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 and will hold practice sessions at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium ahead of the ODI series.

The upcoming bilateral ODI series will mark Australia’s first tour of Pakistan in the 50-over format since March and April 2022, with the Men in Green winning the series 2-1.

Earlier this year, Australia toured Pakistan for a three-match T20I series in January and February, where the hosts completed a 3-0 clean sweep at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
