KARACHI: Pakistan captain Fatima Sana etched her name in the record books on Friday by smashing the fastest half-century in women’s T20 history.
The 24-year-old all-rounder achieved the milestone during the third home T20I against Zimbabwe, which is underway at the National Bank Stadium on Friday.
Coming out to bat at number 6 with the scoreboard at 152/4, Fatima launched a militant attack on the Zimbabwean bowlers, hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes on her way to 50 off 15 balls.
As a result, the Pakistan captain broke the record for the fastest half-century in women’s T20Is, beating New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield and India’s Richa Ghosh.
Meanwhile, former captain Nida Dar, who scored a 20-ball half-century against South Africa in 2019, holds the record for the fastest half-century by a Pakistan batsman in the shorter format.
