Faheem Ashraf has signed with Yorkshire County Cricket Club as an overseas player for the 2026 season, marking another role in county cricket for the Pakistan all-rounder.

The 32-year-old replaces injured Australian all-rounder Will Sutherland, who was originally part of Yorkshire’s plans but was ruled out through injury.

Ashraf will be available to the club throughout the group stages of the Vitality Blast and is expected to feature in both rounds seven and eight of the County Championship during his spell.

This is Ashraf’s second spell at the Vitality Blast, having previously played for Northamptonshire in 2019. In that season, he played 11 matches, took 11 wickets with the ball and contributed 36 runs with the bat.

The Pakistan all-rounder heads to England on the back of another impressive performance in the Pakistan Super League, where he turned out for Islamabad United in the 11th edition of the tournament.

In that campaign, Faheem etched his name in the record books as the second all-rounder in PSL history to complete the double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets.

He has been a regular on the international stage for Pakistan, playing in 17 Tests, 45 ODIs and 85 T20 Internationals during his career.

Beyond the PSL, Faheem has also gained experience in several franchise leagues around the world. In the Bangladesh Premier League, he took 44 wickets in 25 matches and scored 173 runs in four seasons.

He has also played in the Big Bash League, representing the Hobart Hurricanes in one season, where he took seven wickets and scored 61 runs in nine appearances.

Faheem said he was delighted to join the historic county side after his move to Yorkshire and was keen to follow in the footsteps of the many Pakistani legends who have represented the club in the past.

“I am delighted to be joining Yorkshire. Many of my fellow Pakistani players have represented the club and have spoken highly of both the environment and quality of players in the squad,” said Faheem.

“I’m really looking forward to coming to Headingley.”

Yorkshire’s general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton has backed the Pakistani all-rounder to make a strong impact for the club.

“Faheem is an experienced multi-format player who will be a very valuable addition to the squad,” said Hamilton. “He brings great ability to score quick lower-order runs and the ability to make a real impact with the ball.”
