Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced the 15-member Indian squad for the tri-series ODI series against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

The team made its first call-up to India’s 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored a 35-ball century for inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year and became the youngest to register a cash in the league.

He was also instrumental in India’s ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup win earlier this year, scoring 175 off just 80 balls against England in the final.

The left-handed batsman also finished as India’s leading run-scorer at the mega event, amassing 439 runs at an impressive average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49 with the help of a century and three fifties.

Batting all-rounder Tilak Verma has been named the captain of India A for the upcoming tri-series, while top-order batsman Ryan Barrack has been appointed as the vice-captain. Both, along with fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, are the only players to have represented the senior men’s team.

India A will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka A on June 9 before taking on Afghanistan A on June 12. The Men in Blue will play their last league-level match on June 19, while the final is scheduled for June 21.
