KARACHI: Faham-ul-Haq backed up his half-century with four wickets in the fifth round of the President Cup Grade-1 at the KCCA Stadium on Tuesday.

Batting first, Sahir Associates posted a respectable total of 309/8 in their allotted 50 overs, with their top-order batsmen – Fahad Usman, Faham and captain Usman Khan – all scoring half-centuries.

Fahad continued to top score with 68 off 90 balls, while Faham and Usman scored 66 and 61 respectively.

Apart from them, No.4 batsman Mohammad Faik made a significant contribution with 34 off 58 balls with two fours and a six.

For WAPDA, Ahmed Sabi Abdullah, Akif Javed and Mohammad Wasim Jr took 2 wickets and Mohammad Asghar and Nabi Gul took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 310, WAPDA were bowled out for 222 in 44 overs, despite Muhammad Akhlaq’s half-century to lift the order.

Akhlaq continued to top with 55 off 77 balls, while all-rounder Nabi scored the other notable runs with 47 off 51 balls.

Faham was the best bowler for Sahir Associates, claiming four wickets for just 30 runs in his six overs, while Hafiz Mohammad Suleman claimed three scalps.

Ghani Glass beat State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) by five wickets to claim their second win in the ongoing Presidents Cup Grade-I at the UBL Sports Complex here.

SBB skipper Imran Bhatt’s decision to bat first backfired as they were booked for 150 in 39.3 overs.

Mohammad Huraira top-scored with 35 off 60 balls while middle-order batsman Mohammad Irfan Khan scored 34 off 45 balls.

Mohammad Rameez Jr. and Shoaib Akhtar Jr. jointly led the bowling of Ghani Glass with four wickets, while Zafar Gohar and skipper Noman Ali chipped in with a scalp each.

In reply, Gani Glass easily chased down a modest target of 151 runs with 5 wickets and 78 balls to spare.

Leading the way for them was Mohsin Riaz, who anchored the top score with 59 off 98 balls, while Hammad Butt contributed an unbeaten 32.

For SBB, Mehran Mumtaz took 2 wickets, Mohammad Ismail, Niaz Khan and Qasim Akram took one wicket each.

Notably, two day-night fifth round matches between Pakistan Television (PTV) and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) versus Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) are currently being played here.

Meanwhile, the sixth and final round of the President Cup Grade-I will be played at four venues here on Thursday.
