
KARACHI: Pakistan’s top-order batsman Ayesha Zafar etched her name in history with an unbeaten century in the first T20I against Zimbabwe at the National Bank Stadium on Tuesday.
Ayesha, who came out to bat at number 3 on the scoreboard at 23/1 in 1.5 overs, all-out the Zimbabwean bowlers and hit Nomwelo Sibanda towards the mid-wicket region for a boundary off the last delivery of the innings to record her maiden century.
The top-order batsman scored an unbeaten 102 off just 47 balls with 15 fours and 2 sixes to take Pakistan to a mammoth total of 237/5 in the ongoing match.
As a result, Ayesha became the second batsman to score a century for Pakistan in Women’s T20Is, joining teammate Muneefa Ali who has achieved the feat twice.
Ayesha scored an unbeaten 102, level with Muneefa, as the joint-highest score by a Pakistani player in the format.
