KARACHI: Pakistan women’s cricket team broke several records by thrashing Zimbabwe by 153 runs in the first T20I of the three-match home T20I series at the National Bank Stadium on Tuesday.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana’s decision to bat first paid off as the team amassed 237/5 in 20 overs, their highest in the format, beating their previous best of 181/4 achieved against South Africa in 2024.

Ayesha Zafar, the leading right-handed batsman for Pakistan, scored an unbeaten century of 102 off 47 balls, with 15 fours and 2 sixes, and broke several personal bests.

He was supported by Alia Riaz, Gul Feroza and captain Fatima who remained unbeaten with 48, 37 and 21 runs respectively.

In reply, Pakistan’s bowling attack led by captain Fatima dismantled Zimbabwe’s batting unit and posted 84 runs in 18.2 overs – their third lowest total in this format.

Zimbabwe’s lowest run is 61 all out, which came against Vanuatu in 2024, while their 64/9 against New Zealand is second on the list.
