Dubai: The Pakistan men’s cricket team slipped to fifth place in the annual ODI rankings shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday.
According to the apex body, the decline of the green shirts in the long format’s annual rankings came on the back of South Africa’s meteoric rise, who finished fourth with 102 rating points, four more than Pakistan.
ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 champions India remain at the summit with 118 rating points, five ahead of second-placed New Zealand, while defending world champions Australia are third with 109 points.
Sri Lanka is sixth with 96 points, followed by Afghanistan and England with 93 and 89 points respectively.
Bangladesh remain ninth with 84 points, while West Indies are in the top 10 with 74 points.
Even though men played T20I cricket last year, including the 2026 World Cup, there was very little movement in the short format’s annual rankings.
India, who became the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup, remain at the top with 275 points, maintaining a 13-point cushion over second-placed England, while Australia are third with 258 points.
The top seven positions in the annual men’s T20I rankings remained unchanged, followed by New Zealand (247 points), South Africa (244 points), Pakistan (240) and West Indies (233).
In the only change, Sri Lanka dropped 6 rating points to ninth place, while Bangladesh gained one point. Afghanistan is at 10th place, while Zimbabwe and Ireland are at 11th and 12th respectively.
On the other hand, Pakistan women’s cricket team slipped one place to eighth position with 72 rating points, while they were eighth in the T20I update.
