Mirpur: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced the 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.

Experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Nigar Sultana will lead Bangladesh in the mega event for the third time in a row, having served as the captain in the 2023 and 2024 editions.

Bangladesh brought back top-order batsman Taj Nehar in place of Sarmin Sultana, who was part of their squad for the three-match home series against Sri Lanka.

Nehar, who made his debut against Scotland in 2024, last played for Bangladesh in the same format in January 2025. In his eight T20 matches, the right-handed batsman managed to amass 44 runs at a poor average of 6.28.

Despite his low numbers, Bangladesh chief selector Sajjad Ahmed has backed him to solve the problem of quick runs at the back, while hinting at plans to use Sarmin in ODIs.

“We were thinking of Sarmin Sultana for the one-day tournament. Taj Nehar is a versatile cricketer who can bat from No. 1 to No. 6 in the batting order,” Ahmed said.

“The selectors are confident that Nehar can solve the problem of quick runs in the last five overs,” he added.

Bangladesh, who are placed in Group 1, will begin their campaign against the Netherlands on June 14 before taking on Australia on June 17, with the remaining two league-level matches scheduled against Pakistan and India on June 20 and 25 respectively.
