LAHORE: As part of preparations for the three-match ODI series against Australia, the Pakistan team is likely to hold white-ball matches next week, sources told Jio Super on Saturday.

According to sources, three to four matches are expected to be held, with the best white-ball players invited for the matches.

White-ball head coach Mike Hesson is keen to closely assess the players ahead of the series, with the matches expected to play a key role in finalizing Pakistan’s ODI squad.

Sources further said that the national selection committee may include some young players in the squad after the completion of the matches.

Pakistan will play a 3-match ODI series against Australia later this month. The opening match will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on May 30, while the remaining two matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium on June 2 and 4 respectively.

The Australian squad for the series is expected to feature a number of new faces as it is missing some veteran players.

The upcoming bilateral ODI series will mark Australia’s first tour of Pakistan in the 50-over format since March and April 2022, with the Men in Green winning the series 2-1.

Earlier this year, Australia toured Pakistan for a three-match T20I series in January and February, where the hosts completed a 3-0 clean sweep at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

Australia also visited Pakistan during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, beating England by five wickets at the same venue on 22 February.
