SOUTH GEELONG: Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi missed out on his Big Bash League (PBL) debut as he was dropped from the attack for throwing two high full tosses during the second match of the match between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades on Monday.

The incident occurred when Shaheen was brought back into the attack by captain Nathan McSweeney in the 18th over of the Renegades’ innings.

To bowl his third over for the Heat, Shaheen was welcomed by Oliver Peake for a six over deep midwicket. Under pressure early on, the left-arm pacer bowled a low full toss and got out of it as the batting all-rounder might take a single.

The 25-year-old, attempting a yorker, missed his mark and bowled a high full toss that was deemed a no-ball above waist height by the on-field umpires, while Tim Seifert lofted it at long-on and pulled it back for two runs.

Shaheen managed to nail a perfect yorker on the free hit, guiding Seifert towards deep fine leg and conceding only a single.

The Pakistan international missed his mark again and bowled another beamer which was promptly called another no-ball above waist height.

Peake tried to steer it towards the third-man region with a wobble but missed, while wicketkeeper Jimmy Pearson also failed to collect the ball as it was pitched just ahead of him, resulting in Peake and Seifert getting out for two runs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, meanwhile, came under fire from the field umpires for throwing two waist-high no-balls, ending his forgettable outing in the heats, which saw him selected as the first overseas pick in the BBL 15-man draft.

Shaheen started his spell by bowling heat in the second over and was hit by Seifert for two boundaries, conceding nine runs.

He was taken for 19 in his second over, Seifert hit a six and a four, Peake hit a four.

As a result, Shaheen Shah Afridi returned a poor bowling figure of 0/43 in 2.5 overs on his BBL debut for Brisbane Heat.
