KARACHI: Karachi Kings captain David Warner has hit back at an Indian fan who suggested he quit the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2026 season following his team’s exit before the PSL 11 playoffs.
After the match Warner took to Instagram where he reflected on his side’s campaign and praised the team’s effort despite the lackluster finish.
He highlighted the “passion, resilience and attitude” shown by the team throughout the season, noting that it is difficult to fully appreciate the demands of franchise cricket without being part of such an environment.
The former Australian opener thanked the fans for their “unrelenting support” and acknowledged the hospitality of the PSL organisers. He further appreciated the efforts of the security personnel and police for ensuring security during the tournament and managing crowd-related challenges.
In a lighthearted conclusion to his post, Warner suggested incorporating recreational activities like paddle or golf in future editions.
However, his post gained attention after an Indian fan commented, suggesting that he should leave the PSL and return to the IPL, as the Indian league suits him better.
“You better get out of PSL and back in IPL,” the fan wrote.
Warner responded briefly but firmly, rejecting the suggestion and making it clear that he was not currently considering such a move.
“There’s no need for that now,” Warner replied.
Notably, 2020 champions Kings were eliminated from PSL 11 following Lahore Qalandars’ win over Peshawar Zalmi in the 38th match of the tournament.
This is the fourth time Karachi Kings have failed to qualify for the playoffs since the league’s inception in 2016, having missed the top four in three consecutive seasons from 2022 to 2024.
