KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday released a detailed public transport and traffic management plan for Pakistan Super League 11 Qualifier 1, following the government’s decision to allow spectators back into stadiums.
The high-profile clash between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United will be played at the National Bank Stadium later today, marking the first playoff match of the tournament with a crowd turnout.
In compliance with the directives issued by Shehbaz Sharif to reduce fuel consumption, PCB has organized public transport services across the city.
Special shuttle services, including red buses, electric buses and coaches, will operate on major routes across Karachi, taking visitors directly to the stadium gates.
Red bus service will operate from Liaquatabad via Shahra-e-Faisal, while electric buses will operate between Numaish and Safora. Additionally, routes 51 and 52 connect Malir to Numaish.
A comprehensive traffic plan has also been released to ensure smooth vehicular movement. Major arteries including Sir Shah Sulaiman Road will remain open for regular traffic, while designated parking areas have been reserved at the National Coaching Center and China Stadium.
Commuters traveling from areas such as Karzas, Millennium and Newtown are advised to follow specific routes to reach the parking lots. Officials have urged fans to avoid parking on roadsides and instead use designated spaces.
Sohrab Goth to Nipah, Liaquatabad no. There will be heavy traffic restrictions on major thoroughfares around the stadium, including 10 Hasan Square and footpaths through University Road to Garzas.
Traffic police have sought the public’s cooperation, asking commuters to follow instructions to minimize disruption. Helpline 1915, social media platforms and FM radio announcements are available for help.
The arrangements come a day after the government lifted restrictions on attendance for all three PSL playoff matches, ending the no-crowd policy imposed earlier due to austerity measures.
