CPL 2026 tournament announced to expand to seven teams

The schedule for the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 season has been officially released, with a total of 39 matches to be played between August 7 and September 20.
For the first time, seven teams – Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, Barbados Royals, Jamaica Kingsmen, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Lucia Kings and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots – will join defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders in the race for CPL glory.
The 2026 edition will also mark several historic milestones for the tournament. St. Vincent & Grenadines will host CPL matches for the first time, with the inaugural matches scheduled at the scenic Arno’s Vale Stadium, bringing the excitement of CPL cricket to a new audience.
At the other end of the tournament, Barbados will be hosting the CPL finals for the first time, setting the stage for the main result of the tournament.
Caribbean Premier League Chief Executive Pete Russell expressed his excitement about the league’s expansion plans for the 2026 season, highlighting the competition’s continued growth, its commitment to reaching new territories and its ambition to improve the overall fan experience across the Caribbean.
He emphasized that the new stadiums and improved finals week reflect the league’s long-term vision to strengthen its regional footprint and provide a world-class spectacle.
“We are excited to bring CPL cricket to St. Vincent & the Grenadines for the first time, with an expanded tournament in 2026,” Russell said.He said.
“We are excited to host the finals week in Barbados, where we have ambitious plans to deliver the biggest and most memorable finals in the tournament’s 14-year history. Every year, our goal is to raise the bar and I am always confident that CPL 2026 will be our best season yet,” he added.
Trinbago Knight Riders are the defending champions of the CPL.
