KARACHI: 2017 champions Peshawar Zalmi officially registered for the playoffs of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 on Friday.
Zalmi, who topped the eight-team table with 13 points from seven matches, were assured of their top four spot following Quetta Gladiators’ 6-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars at the National Bank Stadium here earlier today.
A win for Gladiators means the fourth-placed side at the end of the league stage can no longer beat Zalmi’s tally of 13 points.
Peshawar Zalmi started their PSL 11 campaign with a five-wicket win against debutants Rawalpindi.
Former champions Hyderabad Kingsmen, Karachi Kings secured their top spot by recording back-to-back wins against defending champions Qilanders, Multan Sultans and Gladiators respectively.
Zalmi’s next game is scheduled for Sunday against Gladiators at the aforementioned venue, before they return to Lahore to face Kings and home side Calendar on April 22 and 25 respectively.
It is pertinent to note that despite Zalmi’s guaranteed top four spot, three-time champions United and 2021 winners Sultans remain the remaining seven teams in contention for a place in the playoffs.
United are second in the PSL 11 standings with nine points after seven matches, while Sultans, who have played a game less, are close behind with eight points.
