KARACHI: Former Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Islamabad United on Saturday confirmed the replacement of Nepal international Dipendra Singh Airey for the ongoing PSL 11 season.

The announcement was made via the franchise’s official Instagram account, with Sri Lankan Pawan Ratnayake replacing Airey for the remainder of the match.

Airey will miss the rest of the tournament due to national duty commitments.

The Nepali middle-order batsman was picked by three-time champions PKR for Rs 6 million during the historic player auction on February 11.

However, as he is short in the competition, he will get 70% of his contract value, which is PKR 4.2 million.

The remaining 30%, worth PKR 1.8 million, will be allocated to Ratnayake, who will now make his PSL debut. Having featured in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), the Sri Lankan player brings limited ownership experience.

The 23-year-old has represented Sri Lanka in 12 T20 Internationals, scoring 266 runs at a strike rate of 146.96, including two fifties.

Meanwhile, Islamabad United have finalized their squad salary structure and improved player positions, revealing a heavily invested squad with an almost depleted budget for the season.

The total purse of this franchise is PKR 505 million, of which PKR 494.75 million has already been used, leaving only PKR 17.25 million.

The figures highlight that the franchise has committed most of its financial resources to building a competitive squad for PSL 11.

The salary chart is headed by Faheem Ashraf who is the highest paid player with PKR 85 million. He is followed by Shatab Khan and Mark Chapman both at PKR 70 million, while Devon Conway holds the top spot with a contract worth PKR 63 million.

Currently, Shatab Khan’s side are second in the PSL table with 11 points with four wins and two losses from 7 matches, including one dropped game. They have nine points and a net run ratio of 1.481.

Islamabad United squad updated for PSL 11:

Shatab Khan (catch), Salman Irshad, Andries Ghose, Devon Conway, Faheem Ashraf, Mehran Mumtaz, Mark Chapman, Nisar Ahmed, Mir Hamza Sajjad, Samin Gul, Sameer Minhas, Imad Wasim, Richard Hammadnaya, Mohammad Naya, Mohammadai Mohsin Riaz, Chris Green and Mohammad Salman Mirza.
