KARACHI: Quetta Gladiators’ veteran batsman Riley Roseau created history by completing his century in Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches during the ongoing Champions League 2019 clash with arch-rivals Peshawar Zalmi at the National Bank Stadium on Wednesday.
As a result, the top-order batsman became the fourth player to feature in 100 PSL matches and the first foreign cricketer to achieve the milestone.
Owner Nadeem Omar presented Roseau with a memento ahead of the aforementioned match — a trophy featuring a striking golden gladiator-themed helmet mounted on a wooden base.
“The Immortal Gladiator was awarded to Riley Roseau for outstanding performances by Nadeem Omar, owner of Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League,” reads the plaque on the bottom of the trophy.
Rosov, who made his PSL debut in the 2017 edition for the Gladiators, has featured in 10 consecutive seasons in the marquee league.
His first three PSL appearances came for the Gladiators, who won the coveted title in 2019, before switching allegiance to Multan Sultans.
He was associated with Sultans for four editions and won his second PSL title with them in 2021.
The left-handed batsman returned to the Gladiators in the 2024 edition and has remained with them ever since.
With 2366 runs in 94 innings at an average of 31.54 and a strike rate of 144.53 with three centuries and 11 fifties, Rosov is one of the top five run-scorers in marquee league history.
