KARACHI: Karachi Kings captain Moeen Ali on Saturday said that their regular skipper David Warner has a “bad back” and will therefore not play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Match 11 against Hyderabad Kingsmen at the National Bank Stadium.
The experienced all-rounder provided an update in the toss, with left-arm opener Reza Hendricks replacing him due to a back problem as the Kings made three changes to the squad, which marked the arrival of veteran pacer Hasan Ali, while emerging pacer Ihsanullah is set to make his debut for the 2020 champions.
“He didn’t play. He has a bad back, so unfortunately, he was ruled out,” Ali said in the toss.
“Yes, three changes. David Warner is out, so Reza comes in. Ihsanullah comes in to give us that pace in the middle and Hasan is back,” he added.
In the ongoing eight-team tournament, Warner has not been able to show his talent with the bat as he has scored just 93 runs in four innings at a modest average of 23.25 and a strike rate of 136.76.
He fell for a golden duck in Kings’ previous match, a 159-run defeat against Peshawar Zalmi.
As a result, the upcoming match is very important for the 2020 champions as they will try to get back to winning ways by defeating the Kingsmen who are yet to taste success in PSL 11.
Back-to-back wins against Quetta Gladiators, arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars and Rawalpindis are fourth in the table with six points after four games.
