
KARACHI: Islamabad United beat defending champions Lahore Qalandars by 9 wickets in the 11th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Bank Stadium on Thursday.
The emphatic win lifted United from third to second in the PSL standings.
They now have seven points from five matches, three wins, one loss and one wash-out fixture, and a net run rate of 2.052.
Lahore Qalandars, meanwhile, are fifth in the table with four points after registering two wins and two losses from four matches. Their net run rate is -0.051.
Multan Sultans continue to lead the table with eight points from five matches, four wins and one loss, with a net run rate of 0.941.
Karachi Kings finished third with three wins from three matches, accumulating six points with a net run rate of 0.486.

In the fourth game of the tournament, Callanders were disappointing with both bat and ball. Opting to bat first, they were bowled out for 100 runs in 18.3 overs.
Sikandar Raza top scored 25 off 19 balls with 3 fours. Hasibullah Khan scored 19 runs off 22 balls and Asif Ali added 15 runs off 12 balls.
Abdullah Shafiq departed with 10 but the rest of the batting line-up failed to make an impact.
Chris Green was brilliant for Islamabad United, taking 3 for 19 in his four overs.
Imad Wasim, Richard Gleeson and Shatab Khan claimed two wickets each, while Faheem Ashraf completed a dominant bowling display.
In reply, Islamabad United reached the target easily losing only 1 wicket in 10.2 overs.
Devon Conway scored an unbeaten 59 off 35 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
Mohamed Faik provided brisk support with a 19-ball 34, including 6 fours, as United secured a comprehensive win.
