KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam on Thursday added another feather to his cap by reaching 12,000 runs in men’s T20Is during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11th match against Karachi Kings.

The right-handed batsman entered the fixture with 11987 runs in just 337 innings and breached the 12000-run barrier by smashing Kings’ Khushdil Shah for a six at mid-on off the third delivery of Zalmi’s fourth over.

As a result, the 31-year-old became the 12th batsman in men’s T20 history to reach the milestone, joining West Indies’ Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard, India’s Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and compatriot Shoaib Malik on the miss list.

Interestingly, Babur was the fastest of the 12 batsmen to break the 12000-run barrier with 338 innings, five less than Gayle who conceded 343 innings. He is followed by Kohli and Australia’s David Warner with 360 and 368 innings respectively.

Meanwhile, Gayle still tops the list of highest run-scorers in men’s T20Is with 14562 runs in 455 innings, including 22 centuries and 88 fifties.

Pakistan’s legendary all-rounder Malik is seventh with 13571 runs in 515 innings.
