LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators’ bowling all-rounder Ahmed Daniel was rushed to the hospital after sustaining an injury during Pakistan Super League (PSL) match 11 against Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
Daniel had to be taken off the field on the final delivery of the Gladiators’ innings as the bowling all-rounder slipped while completing the third run and injured himself in the process.
Meanwhile, according to the development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the 28-year-old has injured his right hamstring and has been rushed to a nearby hospital.
The cricket board added that Daniel’s participation in the ongoing PSL 11 tournament will be determined depending on the extent of his injury and clearance from the Gladiators’ medical team.
“Quetta Gladiators’ Ahmed Daniyal sustained a right hamstring injury while taking the third run off the fifth ball of the last over of their innings. He was taken to hospital for further scans,” PCB said in a statement.
“His participation in the ongoing Match 13 will be decided based on the extent of the injury and clearance from the Quetta Gladiators medical team.”
Daniel’s unavailability for the second innings was a major blow for the Gladiators, who despite captain South Shakeel’s half-century set the Sultans up to chase a target of 167 runs, the 2021 champions raced to 96/2 in 8 overs courtesy of Steve Smith.
The former Australian captain, currently unbeaten on 40 off just 19 balls, combined with fellow opener Sahibzada Farhan for a quickfire 32 off 14 balls.
