KARACHI: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (PCB) has written a formal letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a bid to salvage their cricketing ties, Indian media reported on Saturday.

According to a report by a leading Indian news agency, PCB’s Director of Cricket Operations Nazmul Abedin Fahim confirmed sending a formal letter to the BCCI via email, which he described as part of their regular interaction with cricket boards around the world.

“We maintain regular contact with cricket boards around the world. As part of that, we recently approached the BCCI to explore opportunities for collaboration,” Faheem was quoted as saying by the news agency.

“We have included in the letter a request to explore any other possibility of cricket collaboration between our boards,” he added.

According to the report, the letter also highlighted the Indian men’s cricket team’s planned tour of Bangladesh in September, which will be followed by the Bangladesh women’s team crossing the border.

The development comes after months of tussle between the two cricket boards stemming from the release of Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in January this year on the orders of the BCCI.

As a result, the BCB refused to allow India to travel to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 from February 7 to March 8, citing security concerns, and instead requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to hold its matches alongside Sri Lanka.

Their refusal to come to India prompted a series of talks with the ICC, but a solution could not be reached, and the apex body eventually shifted Scotland to the mega-event.
